There’s nothing more classic to crochet than the Granny Square! So much so that it even has its own holiday, Granny Square Day, on August 15. If you are a fan of granny squares like I am, then you are going to love the latest event I’m throwing with my friend Madamestitch, the Friends With Granny Blanket CAL!
This free crochet along event features a gorgeous granny square blanket designed by my different designer friends. Each square puts a new spin on the classic granny square, with different textured stitches and techniques. I love getting to put together different blanket crochet alongs, and I think you are going to love this one so much!
What is a CAL?
If you’ve never participated in one of my CALs before, you might be wondering what that is. CAL stands for Crochet Along, where pieces of a pattern are released over a period of time and a group of people can work on it together. I’ve hosted different ones here on my blog for patterns such as my Pumpkin Patch Blanket and the Flower Garden Blanket. The Friends With Granny Blanket is about to join that group!
How does the event work?
From August 8-August 24, a new square will be released each day. Each square will be available as a FREE PDF download for 24 hours, and the written pattern will always be available for free on the designer’s blog. There is also an awesome PDF ebook available with each of the square patterns, and a bunch of tutorials on how to make the squares.
